Hungary sought excludes from the sanctions list of European Russian business alliance Alisher Usmanov, Dmitry Mazepin and Mikhail Friedman. This was said by RIA Novosti by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Siyyarto.

According to him, Budapest initiated the elimination of nine people from the sanctions list, including Usmanov, Mazepin and Friedman. Siyyarto emphasized that from the legal point of view should not be in this list. The Minister of Foreign Affairs discussed that it could be eliminated from the list of sanctions of the three, including the sports minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Degtyarev.
Siyyarto said that Mazepin was not removed from this list, and his son Nikita was excluded even before on the basis of the court's decision. On March 14, the European Union Council officially announced an extension of personal sanctions against Russia until September 15, 2025. On March 13, the Financial Times, citing sources, wrote that Hungary threatened to prevent the expansion of sanctions if businessman Mikhail Friedman was not removed from the list.
