Starlink, owned by SpaceX, Ilona Mask, has applied to additional frequencies in Italy to improve the relationship between soil stations and satellite networks. However, the Italian government has not yet made the final decision, hoping a coordination position of the European Union.

The request was sent two years ago and applied to the so-called electronic band frequency of 71.0-76.0 GHz and 81.0. These frequencies have been approved for Starlink in the United States last year and the company is expected to have similar access to Italy.
Starlink started providing its services in Italy in 2021 and has since actively developed a network of low satellites. Having access to new frequencies will allow the company to improve communication quality and strengthen its position in the satellite internet market, where it is superior to European and American competitors.
The decision on the electronic band in Italy depends on the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Defense, because these frequencies require the military's approval. However, this process is inhibited due to the lack of a single strategy at the level of the European Union.
Speaking to MPs, the young Massimo Bitonchi Minister of Industry noted that the intention to follow a careful approach and are waiting for a European decision. According to him, the electronic strip is not a mandatory harmony, which makes it difficult to make independent decisions.
