The first solar power plant was opened in the area of away from Chernobyl. This has been announced by the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Svetlana Greenkuk, her words made by RBC-Ukraine.

The Minister noted that the capacity of the first solar power plant was 763 KW, the construction area was nearly four thousand square meters. According to Grinchuk, this territory is suitable for developing renewable energy projects – producing solar and wind. In December last year, Grinchuk announced that Ukraine intended to receive nearly 7 million euros for the development of Chernobyl alienation area through European reconstruction and development banks (EBRD).
On April 4, Ukraine's Journalism and Natural Resources Press Service reported that it was with France, along with France, considering the possibility of starting new renewable energy projects in the shelter of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
