Microsoft has signed a contract to eliminate carbon dioxide, made in Louisian and, according to the company, will become the largest unchanged project in the world to capture and store carbon. In 15 years, the plan to withdraw 6.75 million tons of CO₂ from the atmosphere.

The project is developed by Atmoscoear, part of Texas Fidelis. The object will be built at the port of Big Baton-Rug. As a raw material to create energy and the next exhaust, the rest of sugarcane and wood waste will be used. Carbon is arrested to be stored underground.
For Microsoft, this is part of the carbon neutral strategy: The company previously stated that by 2030, it intended to become a negative carbon, that is, to remove more carbon dioxide from the atmosphere rather than throw it out. At the same time, according to the results in 2023, its emissions amounted to 17.2 million tons, 29% higher than 2020. The growth was explained by an increase in energy consumption, including the development of artificial intelligence technologies.
It is expected that the construction of the facility will start in 2026, and in 2029, it will end up. Fidelis estimates the investment of $ 800 million and predicts the creation of about 75 permanent jobs and 600 temporary jobs.
